Bearfield Church has been known by many names since it was built:

"Bethel Chapel", as it was first known, was built in 1789 for its first pastor, Mr Thomas Watkins.

Later, as "The Countess of Huntingdon's Chapel" it was run by the Trustees of the Lady Huntingdon's Connexion.

In 1880, after establishing a new trust and joining the Somerset Congregational Federation, it became "Bearfield Congregational Church".

Today, while the church is no longer in the Congregational Federation, the congregation is still very involved in the running of the church.

We are a church family from a variety of backgrounds, and provide a warm and welcoming place for all who attend. We aim to appreciate and encourage church family members from all walks of life.
